He later admitted how he actually discovered the secret room.
This idea of having a hidden room doesn't sound like that big of a deal when you first find out about it. You probably think back about the time you played through the game and go "Hm... I guess I missed it..." Well you wouldn't be the only one.
In fact, everyone missed it. Seriously. Not a single person discovered the room. It was so well hidden that Eidos finally just said "FUCK IT! BOMB THE WALL! THE WALLL!!!!" and gave up the location six months after the game's release. It's a real shame too, because the biggest easter egg in the entire game is in there: blueprints to Arkham City, the location of the sequel to Arkham Asylum. Keep in mind that the sequel, Arkham City, wasn't even announced until late 2009, but Arkham Asylum was released in August of that year. Had players found the room, it would've revealed that there was a sequel in the works before it was announced.
Eidos basically put the egg in there to get players pumped that there was going to be a part two. Didn't work out so well... but it's kind of hard to blame players though, considering there was absolutely no mention of the room or any way to detect its whereabouts using the in-game map. No achievement or trophy hinted at its existence either. Oh, and you don't just bomb the wall to get in there either. Nope. You have to detonate explosives THREE TIMES on the random, inconspicuous piece of drywall to get into the place.
In short, Eidos be trippin'...

No big deal.
